Elden M. Cochran, 70, R.4, Monticello, died Friday, March 29, in White Co. Memorial Hospital. He had been in poor health for five years and seriously ill for three weeks.
He was born April 20, 1920, to Claude and Dora Bartle Cochran in Remington. He was married Nov. 14, 1948, to Mary E. Erwin, in Carroll County. She survives.
He lived most of his life in the Reynolds and Monticello communities and was a Navy veteran of World War II, Pacific theater.
He was a farmer most of his life and was employed by the Moorman Manufacturing Co. for 10 years. He retired in 1977.
He was member of the Chalmers American Legion Post.
Surviving with his wife are two sons: Michael S., R.1, Chalmers and Paul W., Stillman Valley, Ill.; four brothers, Kenneth and Albert, both of Monticello; Lynn, Scottsburg and John, LaMar, Arkansas; one sister, Edna Cochran, Frostproof, Fla.; and five grandchildren. One brother and one sister are deceased.
The funeral was Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home, Monticello, the Rev. John Erwin officiating.
Military graveside rites were conducted at IOOF Riverview Cemetery.
