Olga J. Clevinger
Olga J. Clevinger, 89, of Brookston, died Thursday, February 2, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette. She had been in failing health for a couple of years.
Her family came from Germany through Paris and then to the United States via Ellis Island where they settled in Indianapolis.
She was born at Indianapolis on July 1, 1916, to Frederick and Anna Maria (Stengel) Fahrner.
She was a 1934 graduate of Manual High School and then later met her late husband, Raymond Clevinger, while both attended the Indianapolis Barber School. They married on January 9, l935.
She and husband then moved back to his home town of Brookston where she has lived ever since. He died in 1979.
She and her late husband worked together, owning Clevinger's Barber Shop in Brookston for many years. Later she worked at Lafayette Care, (now Heritage Healthcare) in housekeeping and also work at Wickershams Seed Corn as a corn inspector.
She enjoyed playing solitaire, bingo and watching TV game shows.
Survivors include son Jerry (Shirley) Clevinger, Wilmington, Fla.; daughters Diane Clevinger and Sharon (Barry) Dishon, both of Battle Ground, and Donna (Morris) Greinstein, Kokomo; 18 grandchilden, one step-grandchild; 39 great-grand children [sic] and five great-great-grandchildren.
A son, Gene Clevinger; grandson Shawn David Maas, brothers Karl Ervin and Walter Fahrner; sisters Florence Baker, Mary Barton and Helen Clevinger are deceased.
Funeral services were Monday, February 6, 2006 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home in Brookston. Burial was in Brookston IOOF Cemetery.
