Opal C. Gilmore Clark, 84, formerly of Chalmers, died Monday, July 10, at 5:15 p.m. in Monticello Healthcare Center, Monticello. She moved from Rt. 5, Monticello in 1982 to Chalmers where lived until moving to the Healthcare Center in November 1994.
She was born August 21, 1910 to Elmer Gilmore and Lora Edith Culp. She married Gaylord (Ralph) Clark on October 21, 1929 in Jasper County. He died April 26, 1981.
She was a homemaker, worked the Chalmers Library, and wrote for the Chalmers Community Church newsletter and Chalmers News under the pen name "Squeeky." She was a member of the Chalmers Community Church and Chalmers Book Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Lora Ruddick of Tampa, FL; 5 sons, Earl Clark of Culver, John Clark of Chalmers, Roger Clark of Goode, VA, Gary Clark of Brookston, and Ron Clark of Lafayette; 4 sisters, Maybeth Brandenburg of Rensselaer, Elberta Cook of Remington, Lola Wise of South Bend, and Maxine Heinzleman of Goodland; 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by a sister, Velda DuVall, and 2 brothers, Raymond and Ardis Gilmore.
Funeral services were today, July 3, at 10:30 a.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Rev. Loren Shuman officiating.
Burial will be in Osborne Cemetery in Jasper County, IN.
