Herbert Allen Carter, 55, Brookston, died Thursday, Dec. 31 [i.e. 21], at his residence.
He was born April 18, 1945, to William H. and Edres Hendryx Carter, in Lafayette. He was married March 27, 1965, to Peggy E. Anderson at the Federated Church in Brookston, and she survives.
He was a 1963 graduate of Brookston High School and a 1967 graduate of the Purdue School of Agriculture.
He was a self-employed farm consultant. He retired in 1999 as branch manager of Heartland Co-op. He bad worked with Farm Bureau for 32 years.
He was a member of the Brookston Lions club and was formerly on the Brookston Library and Frontier School boards.
He is survived by his wife; daughters. Leslie (Rich) Rohrer of Michigan City and Tricia (Michael) Roller of Lafayette; son Eric (Sherrie) Carter, Brookston; his parents, William and Edres Carter, Brookston; brother, Greg Carter of Lynnville; sister, Lana Gilbert of Lafayette; grandchildren, Madeline Rohrer, Katie and Ryan Ruemler, Hallie Carter and Alex and Samantha Roller and 11 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, at the Brookston Federated Church with the Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynolds officiating.
Burial was in Spring Creek Cemetery, Brookston.
Memorials may be given to the Brookston Federated Church.
