Sylvia M. Burks. 94, of Monon, died Sunday, August 23, at Monticello Healthcare Center. She had been in poor health for six months.

She was born June 29, 1904, to Ray and Clara Brennemon Simpson, in Francesville.  She was married May 10, 1923, to Wilbur Burks, in Monticello, and he died October 13, 1979.

She graduated from Monon High School in 1923, and had lived most of her life in the commu nity.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Monon First Baptist church and a member of the Grandmothers Club in Ken tiand.

Surviving are three sons, George and Ronald, both of Monon and Russell of Kentland; three daughters. JoAnn Hughes, Chalmers; Marjorie DeVault, Reynolds and Sue Dunn, Fayetteville, N.C.; 23 grandchildren: 39 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

A son, brother and two grandchildren are deceased.

Funeral services were this morning, at Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon with the Rev Steve Birch officiating.

Memorials may be given to the Monon First Baptist Church.
