Louise A. Schmierer Brown, 101, formerly of West Lafayette, died Saturday, June 12. at Home Hospital, Lafayette. She had been a patient in the hospital's extended-care unit since April 1987.

She was born November 5, 1891, to Carl and Lydia Deitsel Schmierer in West Lafayette. She married Andrew P. Brown on March 1, 1916, in Lafayette, and he died September 25, 1974.

She was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Lafayette, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in West Lafayette and Pleasant Grove Grange.

Survivors include a son, Donald C. of West Lafayette; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Betty Rowland, a son Richard A., a sister and three brothers are deceased.

The funeral was held Tuesday at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston with the Rev. Kenneth Scherrey officiating.

Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.
