Donola P. Brown

Donola P. Ross Brown, 84, Brookston, died at 6:12 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 28, at the home of her son, James Brown of Horseshoe Bend, Brookston. She had resided at his home for two months.

She was born Jan. 23, 1913, to William A. and E. Ethel Nelson Ross, in Ash Grove. She was married Nov. 15, 1931, to Dale L. Brown, at Ash Grove. He was a former Brookston Town Marshal and he died May 25, 1985.

She was a 1931 graduate of Battle Ground High School and had lived in Brookston since 1941.

She and her husband owned the first IGA grocery in Brookston from 1945-1955. She was also a homemaker.

She was a member of the Brookston Federated Church, was co-chairman of the White Cross (mission work) of the church for many years and a charter member of the Mothers' Club of the church since 1935. She was a member of the Prairie Home Extension Club.

She is survived by a son, James (Jim) of Horseshoe Bend, Brookston; two daughters, Mrs Dick (Connie) Hallam, Kokomo and Mrs John (Marilyn) Conkright-Marvin, Brookston; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Three brothers are deceased.

Funeral services were conducted last Friday, at 11 a.m. in the Brookston Federated Church, with the Rev. Lelan McReynolds officiating. The Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston was in charge of the service.

Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.
