LeRoy W. Brooks, 71, Brookston, died at his home Tuesday, Nov. 19. He had been in ill health the past 18 months.
He was born Jan. 22, 1925, in Newmanstown, Pa., and moved to Lafayette, when he was 16 and had lived for the past four years in Brookston, moving from Lafayette.
He was married Nov. 9,1946, to L. Evelyn Mourning in Lafayette and she survives.
Mr Brooks had worked for GTE for 32 years, retiring in 1978. He had been a lineman, cable splicer and worked on the test board.
During World War II he served in the Army and was an avid golfer, fisherman and bowler.
Surviving with his wife are four daughters; Mrs Hugh (Linda) Hester, Sibley, La.; Mrs John (Connie) Lazar, San Antonio, TX.; Mrs William (June) Brown, Lafayette and Mrs Michael (Janet). Payne, Brookston; two sons, Erroll Brooks and Larry Brooks, both of Romney. Also 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren survive. A sister preceded him in death.
Services were held Friday in Hippensteel Chapel, Lafayette, with Pastor Ross Terry officiating. Interment was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
