James T. Blume  Sr.


James T. Blume, Sr., 77, of Rt. 1, Monticello, died Fnday, May 28, at Saint Anthony's Healthcare in Lafayette.

He was born Aug. 4. 192!, to James and Katherine Becunas Blume, in Wilkes Barre, Pa. He was married July 18, 1945, to Helen A. Miller in Wilkes Barre, and she survives.

He graduated in 1939 from James Caughlin High School in Wilkes Barre.  He attended Pennsylvania State University for two years.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific, receiving a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

He moved to the Monon area from Lafayette in 1971.

He was a retired supervisor from Eli Lilly.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, Monticello, and the Holy Name Society.

He was a member of the Monticello American Legion.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, James T. Blume Jr, Lafayette and Terrance Blume Sr.. West Lafayette a brother, William Blume of Fayetteville, N.Y.; two sisters. Mrs Joseph Ostrowski of Wilkes Barre, Pa. and Mrs Nicholas Nicolas of Newburgh, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A brother is deceased.

Private funeral services were Monday at Kellogg Funeral Home, Monon, with the Rev. James Goodrum officiating.

Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.

Memorials may be given to the Saint Anthony's Health Care.
