Alta 'Vernie' Blount

Alta "Vernie" Laverne Blount, 68, of Monon, died Thursday, Feb. 21 at 5:35 a.m. in Home Hospital, Lafayette. She had been ill for l9 years.

She was born Feb. 28, 1933, to Marcus Ernest and Cynthia Wooldridge Weston. She was married Aug 7, 1965, to James G. Blount, in Monticello, and he survives.

She had resided for 36 years in Monon, moving there from Monticello.

She was a homemaker.

She attended the Monon United Methodist Church.

Surviving with her husband are sons, Steve Lee, Monon and Mike Lee of Ocala, Florida; stepson, James Leroy Blount, Lafayette; stepdaughter, Julie MacIsaac of Portage; brothers, John Weston, Lafayette; Larry Weston, Beloxi [sic], Miss. and Gary Weston, Monticello; sisters, Louise Sales, Delphi; Geraldine Delp, Buck Creek, Mary Chilcott, Monticello and Loretta DeBoy of Beloxi [sic], Miss.; three grandchildren, and two stepgrandchildren.

Services were Monday at 11 a.m. in the Kellogg Funeral Home with Pastor Mathew Pickut officiating.

Burial was in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.
