R. Lewis Blanchard

R. Lewis Blanchard, 78, of West Lafayette died Monday, December 12, 2005 in Regency Place, Lafayette. He had been in failing health for the last two months.

He was born November 10, 1927 in Corunna to Howard and Marion (DeLong) Blanchard.

He married Patricia Telfer on May 8, 1949, at the Baptist Church in West Lafayette. She survives.

He served in the U.S. Army Chemical Corps and attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He was honorably discharged in 1952.

Other survivors include a son, Bob (Sue) Blanchard, Brookston; daughters Jerlyn (Mark) Mastalka, Geneva, Ill., Janice (Ron) Easter, Charleston, Ill., and Carroll Blanchard, West Lafayette; sisters Betty (Jerry) Quisenberry, Ft. Wayne and Helen (Bob) Foss, Columbus, Ohio; a brother Bill Blanchard, Trufont, Mich.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is tonight from 5-8 p.m. at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home in Brookston. Services will be at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, with Rev. David Mills officiating.

Burial will be in the Brookston I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
