Alta G. Bir, 98, formerly of Brookston died Sunday, September 16, 2001, at Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare Center.
She was born on January 15, 1903, in Brookston, to Oscar and Ella Ramey Harmon. She married Clarence Adrian Bir in White County on January 25, 1921. He died April 26, 1961.
She lived in White County most of her life and in Crawfordsville for 15 years.
She worked in the Reynolds School Corp. as a cook for several years.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Reynolds, where she was a member of the Rosary and Sodality.
She was a member of Honey Creek Home Ec. Club for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Moose and Eagles Auxiliaries, both in Monticello.
She was a member of the Twin Lakes Senior Citizens Club.
Surviving are two daughters, Dorothy Houston and Ruth Buschman, both of Monticello; 33 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
One son, one daughter, one brother and a sister are deceased.
Funeral services were Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Robert L. Sell Msgr. [sic] officiating.
Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home was in charge of the service.
Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Reynolds.
