Maude E. Beasy, 101, formerly of Chalmers, died at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 10, at Wesley Manor Retirement Center, Frankfort, where she had lived for 21 years.

She was born Jan. 6, 1888, in Chalmers, to John and Marsella Ward Beasy.

She was a member of the Chalmers Community Church, the Rebecca Lodge and the American Legion Auxiliary, all in Chalmers. She was a graduate of Marion Normal College in 1906 and a graduate of Indiana University in 1917. She was a retired school teacher who taught in White County and other counties in central Indiana.

Surviving is Dr William A. Downs, Warrensburg, Mo., whom she helped raise. Also surviving are 21 nieces and  nephews. Four brothers and two sisters are deceased.

The funeral was Sunday at Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home.

Burial was in Chalmers Cemetery.
