Mary Kathleen Barr

Mary Kathleen Barr, 89, formerly of Chalmers, died July 28, at Austin, Texas, in the home of a cousin.

She was born Aug. 7, 1902, to Robert W. and Winnifred Ferrick Barr, in Chalmers.

She was a graduate of  Chalmers High School and St. Mary's College, South Bend.

She began her career at Larwell, in 1921, as a school teacher and was retired. She taught in Round Grove Schools in White County then taught from 1937 to 67, at Chalmers. She was honored by the Chalmers Civic Club in 1982.

She was the organist at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Reynolds, for more than 60 years and taught religion in the church's summer school.

Surviving with her cousin Gene Barr, Austin, Texas, is another cousin, Mrs Irene Sticknoth, Winter Haven, Florida.

A memorial service and rosary service, following cremation in Texas, were Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston.

A requiem mass was conducted 9 a.m. Thursday in St Joseph Catholic Church, Reynolds.

Inurnment was in the church cemetery, with Father Robert Fosselman officiating at all three services.
