Elmer "Bud". Barrett Sr., 76, R.1, Chalmers, died Thursday, May 4, in St. Elizabeth Hospital. emergency room at Lafayette.

He was born April 14, 1913, to Cyrus F. and Lesta M. Criswell Barrett, in White County. He was marned Dec. 20, 1934, to Ethel M. Oliver, in Lafayette. She survives.

He was a farmer and served in the Army from 1943-46 in the 34th Division in Italy.

He was a member of the former Baptist Church in Chalmers.

Survivors also include a son, Elmer "Sonny" Barrett Jr., R.l, Chalmers; a daughter, Mrs Bill (Mary Jane) Swisshelm, High land; two brothers, Wilbur C. Barrett, Monticello, and Mason Barrett, Brookston; three sisters, Essie Baker, Monticello, Mrs Edward (Grace) Nelson and Mrs Stanley (Lillian) Newhard Jr., both of Lafayette and five grandchildren.

A sister, brother and grandson are deceased.

Funeral was Sunday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston.

Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery.
