Carol J. Griffin Barnes, 63, Chalmers, died Sunday evening, Jan. 23, at Regency Place, Lafayette. where she had been a patient since Dec. 15.

She was born April 19, 1930 in Tippecanoe County to Delbert and Lucille Grandstaff Griffin. Her mother lives inBrookston.  Shemarried John E. "Johnie" Barnes in Waynetown, IN.  He died Feb. 7, 1992.

She was a 1948 graduate of Brookston High School and worked at the formerChesebrough-Ponds facility in Monticello from 1962 until it closed.

Surviving with her mother are a son, Michael of Lafayette: one daughter. Mrs. Don (Elizabeth''Betsy'') Kressley of Delphi: two stepsons, William Barnes of Lake Worth, FL and Edward "King" Barnes of Brookston; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Charlene thompson of Brookston; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hartzler Funeral Home in Brookston, the Rev.Loren Shuman officiated..

Burial was in IOOF Cemetery in Brookston.
