Lowell F. Barner, 78, of Monon, died Saturday, April 10, 2004, at Twin Lakes Village in Monticello.
He was born December 1, 1925 at Monon, the son of Bloice B. and Esther E. Ehnen Barner.
He was a retired farmer and was a lifetime member of the community.
He graduated from Monon High School in 1944.
He served in World War II as a corporal in the 64th Army Field Artillery Battalion.
He was very active in the local Democratic political party. He was a former member of the North White School Board and had served as the Monon Township trustee for several years.
He was a member of the Monon United Methodist Church.
He was a 50 year member and very active in the Monon Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include a daughter Diane (Wayne) Martin of Charlotte, N.C. and a son Barry Barner of Lafayette; sisters Mary K., [sic] Dice of Lehigh Acres, Florida, Eloice [sic] (Emil) Koekenberg and Merna M. Rinker, both of Monon; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were Tuesday at Kellogg Funeral Home with Rev. James Copeland officiating.
Burial was at Bedford Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Monon United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.
