Arthur Vance Barlow, 83, Brookston, died Wednesday, July 19, at the Indiana Veterans Home, West Lafayette, where he had been a patient since July 13.
He was born Dec. 21, 1916, to Henry Arthur and Beryle Loughlin Barlow, in Monon. He was married April 8, 1938, to Helen Burnett Graves, in Monon and she survives.
He graduated in 1935 from Monon High School. He moved from Monon to Brookston in 1959.
He served in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Ordnance Man Third Class during World War II from 1943-45.
He was a farmer and also worked at ALCOA in Lafayette. He retired from ALCOA in 1979 after 20 years.
He had wintered in Pharr, Texas for the past 20 years.
He was a member of Brookston Federated Church and a member of Chalmers American Legion Post No. 268.
Surviving with his wife are a son, David (Carolyn) Barlow of Attica; two grandchildren, Alan Barlow and Amber (Gary) Reitsma; four great grandchildren and two brothers, Harold Barlow of Brownsburg and James Robert Barlow of San Luis Obispo, California.
Funeral services were Friday at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with the Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynoids officiating.
Burial was in Buffalo Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
