Wilbur Lynn Banes
Wilbur Lynn Banes, 82,of Western Grove, Ark., died Monday, November 18, 2002, in North Arkansas Regional Medical Center.
He was born August 29, 1920, in Monon, Indiana, the son of Isaac Lewis Banes and Emma Jane Kesler Banes. He lived in Monon until he moved to Western Grove in 1984.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Monon, and was employed at RCA in Monticello, Indiana, for 25 years. He was a World War II Army Medical Corp [sic] veteran, serving from 1942 to 1946 at the 228th Station Hospital at Sherbourne, England. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Wilma Pearl Banes, Etta E. Houghton, and Edna P. Shultz: two brothers, Lewis Raymond Banes, Donald Rex Banes and two half-brothers, Bert A. Banes and Ralph E. Banes.
He is survived by his wife, four stepchildren of Arkansas; a son David Banes of Monon; two daughters, Deborah Biss Keller, West Lafayette and Trudi Fender, Knightstown; two sisters, Estelle P. Hurlburt, Monticello, Betty Lucille Nightingale, Medaryville; and a brother William Thomas Banes, Lathyette; also five grandsons, three granddaughters; one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter. Many nieces, nephews and step grandchildren survive him.
Graveside services were conducted in Sand Hill Cemetery in Arkansas. [Correction 1/15/03]In the obituary for Wilbur Banes published December 4, 2002, his wife's name Pauline Banes was omitted. The family apologizes for the omission and any problems it may have caused.
