Florence E. Harris Austin, 86, Lafayette, former Chalmers resident died Monday, May 21, at 4:30 p.m. in Walnut Creek Nursing Home, Lafayette.

She was born Aug. 28, 1914, to James and Nettie Mae Bryner Harris, in Payne, Ohio. She was married March 24, 1934, to Delmar Leonal Austin, in Plymouth. He died April 17, 1966.

She lived in Chalmers. moved to Otterbein in 1987, and then to the nursing home in 1993.

She worked at Bryan Manufacturing in Monticello for 33 years and retired in 1974.

She is survived by two sons, James (Jackie) Austin of Otterbein and Neil (Donna) Austin, Chalmers; a daughter, Marlene (Brayton) Bauer, Oxford; a brother, James Harris, Logansport; a sister, Laura Danner, Chalmers; 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

A son, Glenn Austin; a brother, Delbert Harris; two sisters, Nora Spear and Myrtle Barren; a grandson; and a great grandson are deceased.

Private graveside services were Thursday at Chalmers Community Cemetery with Pastor Don Haley officiating.

Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.

Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston was in charge of arrangements.
