Michael L. Anderson, 56, of Monticello died Sunday, February 18, 2001, at St Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.

He was born in Chicago IL on August 14, 1944 to Robert H. and Iva M. Schackart Anderson. He married Rosemary J. Stelter in Chicago Heights, IL. on November 30, 1958. She survives.

He was a graduate of Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights, IL. He earned his BS in education from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. He then earned his MA from Purdue University.

He lived in Monticello since 1985, coming from Chicago Heights.

He began his teaching career in 1972 and was guidance counselor at North White High School from 1985 - 2000.

He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Monticello.

He touched and inspired many young lives while at North White.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Jason Michael (Katie) Anderson of Monticello; a daughter Sarah M. Anderson of Chicago Heights; a brother Stephen A. (Linda) Anderson of Saulk Village, IL, sister Susan (Michael) Bock of Steger, IL and a grandson, Jeremiah J. Anderson of Lafayette.

A daughter, Maureen L. Anderson is deceased.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m.today at Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home in Monticello. Funeral services will be at noon CST Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Chicago Heights, IL.

Burial will be in the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
