Robert Wayne Allen, 69, Chalmers, died Thursday, March 26, in Marco Island, Florida. He died on vacation in Marco Island, Florida. He had been ill since 1989. He was born May 20, 1928, to Benjamin H and Minnie Austin Allen, in Chalmers. He was married May 18, 1982, to Patricia Bell Stockment, in Chalmers, and she survives. He was a 1947 Chalmers High School graduate and graduated in 1954 from Valparaiso Technical School. He also attended Monmouth Junior College in New Jersey. He was the former owner of Economy TV in Monticello for 10 years. He also worked with repair and maintenance of electronics. He retired in 1989 from Lafayette School Corp. as its electronics maintenance man. He served during the Korean Conflict in the US Navy from Sept. 1949-March 1953, where he was assigned to the USS Mount Katmai, based in Sasebo, Japan. He was a member of the Monticello Christian Church and attended the Chalmers Community Church. He was also a member of the American Legion in Monticello, the American Lung Association and the Lafayette Better Breathers. Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Mrs Dennis (Vicki) Nethercutt, Logansport; two sons, Larry of Wolcott and Rick of Monticello; two stepdaughters, Mrs John (Deborah) Stockment Maxwell, Brookston and Mrs Doyle (Dianna) Stockment Maxwell, Francesville; two stepsons, Gregory Stockment, Brookston and Bradley Stockment, Chalmers, a brother, Leon, Reynolds; 22 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and. nephews. The funeral services were Tuesday, March 31, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston, with Pastor Bill Henderson officiating. Burial was in Chalmers Community Cemetery with Military rites at the cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association or the Chalmers Community Church. |
