Leon M. Allen, 77, of Reynolds died Monday, August 6, 2001 at Monticello Assisted Living and Healthcare.

He was born in Brookston on December 12, 1923, o [sic] Benjamin H. and Minnie Austin Allen. He married Phyllis Beasey in Lafayette on February 24, 1945. She survives.

He was a 1942 graduate of Chalmers High School. He had lived in Chalmers and Reynolds all of his life.

He was part owner of the Allen & Holcomb Construction Company for several years. He also owned an agricultural limestone business and was a farmer. He drove a school bus for Reynolds and North White schools.

He was a member of the Reynolds United Methodist Church and also served as a trustee.

He served on the White County Fair Board for several years. He was a former member of Knights of Phythias [sic] Lodge in Reynolds.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Gary (Carol) Allen of Battle Ground and Ron (Sharon) Allen of Reynolds; two daughters, Deb (Mike) Ingram of Reynolds and Kathy Spencer of New Haven, 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, two sisters and a grandson are deceased.

Services were Wednesday at Reynolds United Methodist Church with Rev. Bryan Ton officiating. Burial was in Bedford Cemetery.

Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home was in charge of the service.
