James Clifford Allen, 84, formerly of Wolcott, died Sunday, March 14, at Monticello Healthcare Center.  He had been ill for seven years and had resided at the care center for two years.

He was born Aug. 18, 1914, in Wolcott, to Walter and Effie Wolfe Allen. He was married Nov. 25, 1959. to Barbara Hitchcock, and she died in 1992.

He graduated from the Wolcott High School in 1933. He worked as a salesman.

He is survived by three sisters, Edna Young of Loves Park, Ill., Mary Fish of Hayward, Calif., and Pauline Wynkoop of Brookston.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

There was no funeral service or visitation. Burial was in Roseland Memorial Park, in Terre Haute.

Foster Funeral Home, Wolcott was in charge of arrangements.
