Joseph G. Alkire Jr., 74, Brookston, died Tuesday, July 9, at his home.

He .was born July 2, 1916 to Joseph G. Alkire Sr. and Lula White Alkire in Monitor, IN.

He was a veteran of World War II from November '42 to October '45 in C Company 48th AIB as a lineman.

He worked on the Monon Railroad in the '50's and '60's on the Brookston section crew.

One brother and 2 sisters are deceased.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 13, at 10 a.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home, Brookston with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Smith officiating.

Burial was in IOOF Cemetery, Brookston.
