Lafayette 56ers, Inc. is a non-profit youth cheerleading and tackle football league, established in 1974.

Through the years the 56er's organization has always been proud of its youth sports programs, and the level of participation from both the community and youth of Lafayette.

We are a non-profit organization that shares the goal of providing the youth of Lafayette the opportunity to be a part of organized sport. Lafayette 56ers, Inc.'s program is for third, fourth, fifth and sixth grade youth, age 12 and younger.

Our coaches receive instruction and training for these grade levels. All head coaches and board members are members of the `National Youth Sports Coaches Association'.

3rd & 4th Grade Football players must weigh between 50 and 150 pounds.

5th & 6th Grade Football players must weigh between 70 and 210 pounds.

We attempt to keep levels to approximately 15 to 18 players per team in order that each participant may receive individual training and playing time. We attempt to keep levels at 8 to 10 cheerleaders per squad in order that each participant may receive individual training.
