Logging onto DCWI.COM using Netscape for Windows 3.1

These are the explicit instructions for logging onto the dcwi.com server using Netscape Personal Edition versions 2.X and 3.X for Windows 3.1.

1. Double click on the Netscape icon group. This will open up the Netscape group revealing the My Account Dialer and the Netscape icons.
2. Double click on the My Account Dialer. This will open the dialer window.
3. Click on Dial. You do not need to enter a login name or a password at this point. When you click on Dial it should initialize your modem and then dial the dcwi.com number. After the dialer is done dialing you should see a black and white box with a cursor blinking after the login: prompt. If you do not see this prompt you might have to hit Enter on your keyboard to bring up the login: prompt.
4. Type your login name at the username: prompt and press the Enter key. You should then see a password: prompt.
5. Type in your password at the password: prompt and press the Enter key. You should then see the screen scroll until it stops at the dcwi.com main menu.
6. At the main menu, type the number 1. You should then see a few lines of text and then a line of garbage.
7. After the line of garbage appears, click on the Continue button or hit the F7 key.
Depending on how your Netscape is setup will determine the next step. After you click on Continue or hit the F7 key you should see a box that says "verifying user name and password" which will then say connect at some modem speed between 14,400 and 115,200, depending on the speed of your modem. After this the window will disappear and another window will appear in the upper right hand corner saying how long you have been logged on and the speed that you have connected at. There will also be 2 buttons in this window saying Disconnect and Statistics. After this your Netscape may start up on its own.
8. IF your Netscape does not appear on its own then you will have to double click on the Netscape icon in the Netscape icon group.

You are now ready to surf the internet.
