RECYCLING
AVAILABLE IN WHITE COUNTY
White County Recycling offers the towns and townships a convenient
recycling program which will benefit not only you, but the County as a
whole in reducing the waste that goes to the landfill. In order for the
program to work, we ask that you follow the guidelines as you collect and sort your recyclables.

Hours: MON - FRI 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
- ALUMINUM
- (soda cans, foil, and pie pans)
- Rinse, crush if possible
- Bi-metal cans can be mixed w/aluminum
- GLASS BOTTLES & JARS
- (clear, green & brown glass that has contained food)
- Rinse, remove lids, separate by color
- No lightbulbs, window glass, dishes, glasses.
- NO BROKEN GLASS
- PLASTIC CONTAINERS
- (Pop bottles, milk/water/detergent/bleach jugs,
detergent/shampoo/household cleaner bottles)
- Containers MUST have a 1 or a 2 symbol on the
bottom
- Rinse, remove & discard lids
- No motor oil or cooking oil containers, large mouth containers
such as cottage cheese, yogurt, peanut butter or margarine
- Sort into 3 categories
- Milk jugs
- Pop Jugs
- Colored
- STEEL
- ("tin"food cans)
- Rinse
- Lids can be recycled
- NEWSPAPERS, PHONE BOOKS, & MAGAZINES
- Package newspaperi n paper grocery bags, all inserts are O.K.
- Sort into 2 categories
- magazines
- phone books & newspapers
- Must be clean & dry
- Dog & cat food, seed & fertilizer bags (with plastic liner
removed) are O.K.
- CARDBOARD & PAPERB0ARD
- Cereal & shoe boxes, corrugated cardboard
- OFFICE PAPER

- Computer & copy paper,
- white ledger,
- colored paper,
- envelopes,
- office junk mail,
- manilla mailing envelopes,
- file folders, and
- hardback books with covers removed
- All packaged together
There are a number of other items that can be recycled in other parts of
the U.S. However, we do not have local markets to sell these products at
this time, but we continue to search for places to recycle more products.
- NO aerosol cans, lightbulbs, styrofoam,
- NO window glass, batteries, paint cans,
- NO tires, anti-freeze containers, motor oil cans,
- NO cooking oil bottles, butter tubs, dishes,
- NO cottage cheese containers
We cannot take PLASTIC BAGS. Please bring your recyclables in paper bags,
cardboard boxes, or garbage cans or be prepared to empty your plastic bag
at the site. Recyclable materials will only be accepted during the times
and dates listed.
Your local Town and/or Township officials, many local volunteer
non-profit groups and the White County Conimissioners and CounciI members
have joined together in this effort to make recycling convenient for all
of White County. We look forward to seeing you at the recycling site.
